General FAQs

The extent to which the conference will be a hybrid event (both on site and online) will dependent on whether or not COVID restrictions are in place based upon Western Sydney University and NSW Government requirements. 

For now, we are planning a hybrid event for 2021. We will keep everyone updates as much as possible via this website and RCOA’s various media outlets. 

Ensuring that we can gather together safely is our priority. We are currently developing our COVID Safety Plan in conjunction with our event partners and the NSW Government guidelines. We will be keeping you updated on this event planning via this website and other Refugee Council media channels.

For our 2021 event we will have a number of sessions facilitated through ZOOM, as well as the plenary sessions live streamed. More information about conference sessions will be available in the next few months.

Coffee, tea and water stations will be set up at the conference venue*

All food will be halal and mainly vegetarian. However will be working with an external caterer and we cannot confirm that additional dietary requirements will be met. If you have any specific allergies, please get in touch with the conference team and we will do our best to accomodate your dietary requests.

Please let us know if you require an interpreter for the event and we will do our best to organise this support for you.

We want everyone who attends Refugee Alternatives to have an engaging and productive time. If we can do anything to help make your experience a seamless and accessible one, please let us know.Some of the accessibility features of the conference include lift access to all floors, accessible bathrooms, Auslan interpreters for plenary sessions, as well as helpful volunteers stationed across the venue to give you a hand should you need it. Alongside this, just drop us an email or call ahead of the conference for support with things like:

  • Arranging support to get to, from and between different spaces within the venue
  • Providing event collateral in large type, or digitally accessible formats
  • Reserved seating in sessions

Refugee Alternatives 2021 is a public event. This means that yes, there is a possibility that your photo will be taken and there may be external media on site. 

If you have any specific media concerns, please contact the conference team ahead of the event (via conference@refugeecouncil.org.au)  or make yourself know as soon as you arrive on conference dat one. We will endeavor to inform any formal media by allocating you with a specific colored lanyard so that you are easily identifiable. You will also be prompted to inform the conference team of your concerns as part of your ticket registration. If you still have any question or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! 

Ticket FAQs

 

To ensure participation from all walks of life can participate in Refugee Alternatives 2021, we will be using a tiered ticket model. 

We are asking conference participants from larger and well-resourced organisations to pay more. This will enable us to cover the external costs of the event; value the speakers and community groups who are working with us to create the event; offer accessible ticket prices for attendees who are community representatives from a refugee background or representing under-resourced organisations / communities.

Please note that due to COVID restrictions there will be a limited tickets will be available to attend the conference on-site at Western Sydney University. We will also be running a number of virtual sessions and tickets will be available for these sessions at a later date.

Yes! When you purchase your ticket (s) you can use one name for multiple tickets, and return to your registration at a later date to update the individual ticket details. 

Yes! Just log back into Humantix and adjust your details as needed. 

Ps. We will need your name and organisation for your event name tags. So please make sure these are listed correctly.

One day tickets are not currently available for this event. Tickets are allocated to one per person. 

Sorry, no refunds are available on tickets purchased.
