Robyn Smythe is the Director of the Survivors of Torture and Trauma Assistance and Rehabilitation Service in South Australia (STTARS). STTARS provides services to advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people in South Australia, who have experienced torture or traumatic events relating to war, political violence or persecution in their country of origin or while fleeing those countries.
With qualifications in Social Work, Disability Studies and Grief, Loss and Trauma Counselling, and Governance Robyn has been passionate about delivering high quality services to survivors of torture and trauma for over 20 years. Robyn had many years first-hand experience as a torture and trauma counsellor before moving into leadership roles.
Robyn will be moderating the session “Building Strengths: Exploring practical responses to mental health needs for people who have faced forced migration” on Wednesday 20 February from 10.45am – 12.15pm.
