Refugee Council of Australia

Laura has been Media and Campaigns Coordinator at the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) for four years. In this role, she works both on RCOA and sector-wide campaigns; Refugee Week; media liaison and refugee sector coordination.

Prior to this, Laura has worked on refugee rights and environmental campaigns and has written for a number of publications in the UK and Australia.

    Parallel Session: What does ethical representation of refugees and refugee policy look like?

    In this session, we examine the ethical representation of people from refugee backgrounds in the mainstream media; the implications of participating in media for people with lived experience; and the dominant and politicised narratives in mainstream media.
