Zakaria Shahruddin is an arts/events producer and activist based in Narrm (Melbourne). His work has sought to centre voices from the margins within the mainstream art sphere. These have been performed at La Mama, Footscray Community Art Centre and Northcote Town Hall. Through mentoring, and production, his work celebrates trans and gender diverse people and people of colour, within the wider community. He currently works as a project officer in the mental health space and is a member of a myriad collective.
Zakaria values self-representation in his work practice with the community. Stories that are told from rather than about trans and gender diverse people of color.
Zakaria will be joining the session “Queering Service Provision: are we there yet?” on Wednesday 20 February from 10.45am – 12.15pm.
